Reiki Treatments

If you're feeling overwhelmed, run down, or simply in need of some quiet time for yourself, my Reiki treatments offer a calming space for you to pause, slow down and simply be. Allowing your body do what it does naturally - return to balance, heal and restore.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing art, founded by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s and brought to the West in the 1930s by Mrs Hawayo Takata, whose teachings shaped the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition I practise and teach today.

At its heart, I work with Reiki - Rei, the universal, Ki, life force energy - the energy of everything which flows through and around us all. During a treatment, I place my hands lightly on the body's chakras, or work within your wider biofield, to gently direct this energy to where it's needed most.

What makes Reiki so valuable is the way it can support you on every level. Physically, it can help ease tension and encourage the body's own natural healing response. Mentally, many people notice a real quietening of a busy or overactive mind. Emotionally, Reiki can help release what's been held onto, leaving you feeling lighter and more at peace. And spiritually, it offers a chance to reconnect with your intuition, your inner calm, and a deeper sense of who you are beneath the noise of daily life.

Reiki won't diagnose or cure a medical condition, but as a gentle complementary therapy, it can offer support on a much deeper level than physical relaxation alone.

Reiki Treatments

Experience this gentle, energy based healing practice that offers a quiet way to slow down and restore balance when life feels overwhelming.

Reiki will work to support the body’s natural ability to settle and rebalance. During your session, you can rest comfortably and simply allow the energy to flow to where it is needed most, helping ease tension and calm a busy mind. Each session offers space to pause and reconnect with yourself, and leaves you feeling more grounded, supported, and at peace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Reiki actually work? Many people find a great deal of benefit from Reiki, particularly for stress, anxiety, and general wellbeing. It's offered in some hospitals and hospices alongside conventional care. Reiki works gently and isn't something that can be measured like a medical treatment, but most clients notice a genuine sense of calm and release during and after a session.

What actually happens during a Reiki session? You'll lie down fully clothed on a treatment bed or in a comfortable chair if that is easier for you. Hands are placed over or just above different areas of the body, working from the crown chakra to the feet. There's no massage or pressure involved just a gentle, still presence while the energy flows.

What should I wear to a Reiki session? Just come as you are, in comfortable clothing you can fully relax in. You'll remain dressed throughout your treatment, there's no need to undress at any point.

What does Reiki feel like? Every person's experience is different. Many people feel warmth, tingling, or a wave-like sense of relaxation. Some feel very little physically but notice a deep sense of calm afterwards. It is most common to drift off or fall asleep during a session and that's completely welcome.

Is Reiki safe? Are there any risks or side effects? Reiki is a very gentle, non-invasive therapy and is considered safe for almost everyone. Occasionally people may feel tired, experience an emotional release, or they may be deeply reflective after a session. This is normal and usually passes quickly.

How many sessions will I need, and how often should I have Reiki? This varies from person to person. Some come for a single session to de-stress or for a reset, while others prefer regular sessions, perhaps monthly, to support an ongoing goal such as better sleep or easing anxiety. I'm always happy to talk through what might suit you best.

Is Reiki safe during pregnancy, or for children and older adults? Yes, Reiki is gentle and non-invasive, and is generally considered safe for most people, including during pregnancy, and for children and older adults. If you have any specific health concerns, it's always worth mentioning them beforehand so I can make sure you're comfortable and well supported.

Does Reiki replace medical treatment? No. Reiki is a complementary therapy, meant to sit alongside your medical care, not replace it. It's not a diagnosis, treatment or cure for any medical condition, and I'd always encourage you to continue with your doctor or other healthcare provider as needed. Many people find it a wonderful support alongside their existing care.

Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work? Not at all. Reiki isn't dependent on belief — many people arrive curious or unsure. Just simply arrive with an open mind and heart. What matters most is that you feel comfortable and relaxed enough to receive.

What's the difference between an in-person session and distance healing? In-person sessions allow you fully relax on the treatment bed while I work with hands-on and hands-above the chakras and the body. Distance healing works in exactly the same way energetically, just without the need to be in the same room, many clients find it just as deeply relaxing, and it's a lovely option if travelling to me isn't easy.
