My Reiki Journey: From Healing to Teaching.

How Energy Healing Transformed My Life and Deepened My Purpose

Reiki first knocked on the door of my life in 2015 softly and quietly like many things we’re not yet ready for. At the time, I was going through a challenging period and decided to try a Reiki session. I didn’t fully understand what had happened during that treatment, but I left feeling lighter, clearer, and calmer. I knew that something deep within me had shifted, even if I couldn’t explain it.

I carried that feeling with me for years, like a seed waiting for the right conditions to grow. Then, in 2022, everything changed.

The Turning Point

In the early stages of menopause, I found myself navigating a wave of emotional and physical upheaval. I craved peace, stability, and a deeper reconnection with myself, my body, and something more. That winter, I booked a place on a spiritual retreat in the hope of finding some calm.

The retreat became a major turning point. Surrounded by a group of inspiring women, one in particular stood out. She was Reiki Level One trained and spoke about energy in a way that resonated deeply with me. A door opened and this time, I felt ready.

On her recommendation, I enrolled on a Reiki Level One course just a one hour drive from my home. From the very first attunement, I knew I’d found something profoundly meaningful. The energies I experienced that day were intense and unmistakably real. For the first time in my life, something about the world made complete sense.

Remembering What I Already Knew

Since childhood, I had always been sensitive to energy, absorbing the emotions of others, sometimes overwhelmingly. But Reiki gave me the tools to understand and manage that sensitivity. It felt like I was remembering something I’d always known but hadn’t had the language or structure to hold.

Driven by this new awareness, I immersed myself in learning. I read everything I could about energy, healing, and consciousness. I moved steadily through the Reiki levels, each step offering more clarity, empowerment, and connection. Then in November 2024, I became a Reiki Master Teacher.

Although I hold that title, I see mastery as a lifelong journey. Each day brings new lessons, new insights, and opportunities to grow within myself and how I support others.

From Student to Teacher

I didn’t wait long to begin teaching. Over the Christmas break, I poured my heart into creating my own Reiki Level One manual. Since then, I’ve had the joy of guiding 16 students through their own Reiki awakenings.

Watching them transform, step into their own light, and create their own ripple effects of healing has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey. Through their experiences, I’ve witnessed the incredible power of self-connection and the importance of returning to the five Reiki principles again and again.

Reiki in Practice: Hospice Volunteering and Beyond

For 18 months, I volunteered at a local hospice, offering Reiki to patients and carers. The feedback was moving, words like “peaceful,” “lighter,” and “less anxious” came up time and again. Reiki spoke for itself, gently and powerfully.

I truly believe that one day Reiki could become a valuable offering within the NHS. Its ability to ease stress, calm the nervous system, and support emotional wellbeing feels especially relevant in today’s fast paced, demanding world, where so many people are seeking relief from anxiety, overwhelm, and disconnection.

Pure by Claire: A Vision Reimagined

This journey has also brought new depth to my business, Pure by Claire, which I founded 18 years ago. The name “Pure” has always reflected my belief in simplicity, honesty, and a return to what is essential.

Reiki has deepened that meaning. It’s about returning to a pure state of being where we feel at home in our energy, connected to our intuition, and aligned with who we truly are. Pure now feels more in tune than ever with the healing work I offer, a space for peace, clarity, compassion, and energetic connection.

A Path of the Heart

That longing for deeper connection still guides me. In September, I’ll begin a new chapter on the Paqo path with the Inca Shamans. This sacred journey is rooted in nature, reciprocity, and reverence and it feels like the natural next step in expanding how I work with energy and hold space for others.

This is a path of the heart. It calls for presence, humility, and deep listening. I feel incredibly grateful and excited to walk it, knowing that it will continue to nourish my own growth, while deepening the ways I can support and uplift others.

The Ripple Effect

Reiki has helped me reconnect with my own energetic systems, bringing calm, resilience, and greater understanding of others. It has changed my life and continues to do so in the most beautiful ways.

As my path widens, so too does my understanding of how energy ripples outwards, through presence, intention, and the spaces we hold for others. Reiki has been the beginning of that realisation. It has given me the foundation to work with energy consciously. The more I’ve grown, the more I’ve come to see that healing isn’t limited to a single modality, it’s a way of being.

Whether through Reiki, teaching, meditation, or the ancient wisdom I’m now beginning to explore, my purpose remains the same - to support others in reconnecting with themselves and their own healing potential.

Because the ripple effect doesn’t begin with grand gestures it begins quietly.
With one drop.
One shift in awareness.
One open heart.

My hope is to continue being that drop, wherever this heart-led path leads next.
